SN45G or A7N8X-E deluxe?

Thu Mar 11, 2004 8:04 am

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this...
I've been trying to compile a list to build a comp for my bro. He doesn't care too much about Speed, Video Card, etc.
He just wants something faster than his 300Mhz and ability to play games he might like in the future.

So I thought something in the line of 2500+ mobility and 9600pro would be nice. But I'm having a bit of a problem deciding which MB to buy?

So, SN45G or A7N8X-E deluxe?
$226.99 or $116.99 (price from Newegg.com 3/11)

I realize that if I go the A7N8X-E deluxe path, I need to buy another heatsink, but that's not too costly. I do have an ATX case lying around from his old PC.

Any advice?

Id go with the asus board and dump the money saved into a better video card  Here real soon ...the 9800 series should be 150ish...once the new cards arrive.

That's a good idea, but my bro looks at the Video card that cost more than the MB and he'd be like..."do I really need this Vcard?"

Well with the Mobile 2500 he should get a brisk OC even in the SN45G and I'd think that the ability to haul your box to a LAN would be a nice consideration, not to mention the coolness that a Shuttle cube gives your whole life :) Personally I'd get the cube :)

Yes, since my bro doesn't use his computer a lot (web browsing, mword, music, movies, bit of gamin) I don't really need a comp that overclocks. (NOt that I wouldn't overclock that M2500+)
I was thinking something cool looking and unique looking would be nice.

I'm thinking of getting one for my GF too, after I experiment with the one for my bro.
