might want to use some marrets when splicing the wires together so you don't get a short.
For the record, traditional AC wiring colors aren't the same as those used in the computer. In the PC, for 3-pin fans, Red is hot, Black is Ground, and Yellow is for RPM sensing. For 4-pin Molex connectors, Red is +5v, Black is Ground, and Yellow is +12v.
