I was wondering i have a VANTEC Spectrum SP-FC70-BL 120mm Ball Fan Card - Retail and i was thinking it does not need to be plugged into a pc its just where it sits it gets it power from a power cord 4 pin so i was thinking if i coulde be able to do this also it would help cool the whole system off especially the 6800gt

thanks, also with the 6800gt in there do i need any special cables for it?

It requires its own dedicated rail on the PSU. Other than that, no. However it does heat up quite nicely.

Hi, I'd like to expand this thread by adding a few more questions.
Some of them might seem quite obvious to you, but please don't flame me, I lost my hardware edge years ago

Here goes:

1) How can I tell if the SN25P's powersupply can support what I want to put in it ?
(Asus ATI Radeon EAX800XL, Athlon 64 3500+, 2 x 512 mb ddr ram, 2 x Maxtor DiamondMax 10 200 GB hdds, DVD/CDRW drive)

2) In general, how do I figure out if a certain powersupply can supply the power needed for a certain graphics card ?

I also want to buy an sn25p, and I have ran into these doubts. Basically the issues I am trying to get some light on are:

1) Power consumption. I want to have a GeForce 6600 GT, a TV card and 2 seagate hardrives of 250/300 gigs. Since the sn25p has 350 watts, which is more than the average barebones, and the 6600 GT cards don't consume that much, I suppose the power will be ok, is that right?

2) Heat. I live in a country which is quite hot in the summer, in my town it's not rare to have 40 celsius degrees (104 Farenheit) or even a bit more on August. I wanted to buy a Gigabyte 6600 GT, since it's the recommended card for this chip at tomshardware.com, but since it has just passive cooling I'm worried it might get pretty hot. Can it work ok? If not, what's the next best 6600 GT card with a fan?

I've been looking around and it seems the Leadtek PX6600 GT TDH is also a good card, perhaps not so silent as the Gigabyte passive cooled one, but I don't really mind the extra noise.
