The sooner the better.

I would *LOVE* to get a cube. But I need AGP, and currently p4's are just too much for my meager budget, saving a 100 or so on the CPU would make the platform viable for me.

Soon I hope.

If not, I will probably end up blowing my hard earned money on a P4 board with Hyperthreading, and will have to amputate my leg and sell it to afford it right now.

Last release date I heard was sometime in December, with the G2 case update coming out sometime after that, maybe January.

But everybody's guessing at this point. It really depends on when nForce2 boards become available in quantity.

I know... I'm waiting too.

Shuttle tells me they are waiting on NVIDIA. No surprise there. The nForce2, like the NV30, seems perrenially delayed. I think Shuttle will have the product shipping as soon as they can get the chipsets to make it.

I'm not sure about all nforce2 boards but for what it's worth, newegg is expecting to be selling the A7N8X by the 18th of the month.. not a big fan of ASUS, but I'm glad to see SOMTHING is coming out of the nvidia.

Of equal concern is whether Shuttle only releases SN41G with integrated GeForce4MX graphics and no AGPx8 slot (for GeForce5 NV30) (as pre-release photo indicates).

It may be necessary to buy a micro-ATX / ITX form factor nForce2 motherboard from another supplier and attempt to install it in a Casetronic Checker Cube since it looks just like a Shuttle XPC only slightly bigger with 2 x 5.25" bays.

Cheers

The XPC SN41G2 is due in December. The nForce2 IGP is now in production, and the SPP has been in production for some time.

The SN41G2 will have an AGP8X upgrade port certified for use with cards like NV30.

BTW, great forum guys =)

Shuttle's inside gen

Hi Cameron of Shuttle in LAkertown,

Thanks for the info :D - I was worried that the SN41G2 would be further away on account of the SK41G only just having been released (i.e. why bother with it otherwise).

You wouldn't happen to know why the pdf specs on your web page come up with CMap encoding specified by file missing or corrupt errors  would you?

Cheers

Will GeForceFX (NV30) fit in a SN41G2 ?

Mon Nov 18, 2002 7:22 pm

Now that pictures of the new GeForceFX card are available the immediate question is will it fit in a Shuttle SFF given that the card effectively requires a PCI slot to the left of the AGP slot for its cooler unit ...

:-?

I would tend to think the Pentium cube would be the cheaper of the two. The processors are pretty cheap these days and very overclockable (400-800MHz, while you'll be lucky to get half that out of an AMD in a tiny cube). I'm guessing the Nforce2 cube will be a good $80-100 more than the SS51G for some time after launch, too.
