New Guy - Aria PSU Fan question

Hi,

I took delivery of an Antec Aria today and built the machine. However the PSU fan is not spinning at all. Is this a fault or does it not start up until the system temp hits a certain temperature?

The system temp (idle in BIOS) climbs steadily to 40C or higher before I wimp out and turn it off.

I've not gone as far as installing an OS as I want to know if the case is faulty or not first. I've asked Aria email support and also the retailer but I've been waiting for a response all day.

Also there is a blue and black cable from the PSU which looks like a fan/mainboard cable but its only got 2 wires not 3 as expected. Anyone know what this is for? the manual seems to ignore it.

if it's not spinning it's probably dead. The blue and black cable is probably the fan monitor to plug into your mobo. My PSU has a two wire plug, it means it can only report fan speed and not temp.

Cheers matey,

Yeah I guessed it was the fan controller and have seen that mentioned on other pages, just wanted a second/third opinion. I wasn't sure as it didn't do anything if I plugged it in or not.

I've heard that some mobo's dont report the Aria's fan rpm anyway so that made me uncertain too.

I've now dismantled the system in hope of a response from either Antec or Ebuyer.

Just to let you know Antec support emailed back and they have recommended that the PSU is faulty. I've agreed to let them replace the PSU even though it was DOA from Ebuyer.

PS: Not having much luck with Ebuyer goods at the moment, they've been trouble free for years up till now though.
