New SFF build issues

Fri Nov 10, 2006 1:26 pm

Hi everybody. I'm starting my SFF build. here's my parts list:

Case/mobo: Shuttle SD37P2
CPU: C2D E6300
RAM: 2gigs (2x1gig) OCZ DDR2 677
vid card: 7900GS
I've got everything installed (including a dvd burner and a FDD and a 500gig HDD).

The issue: It will post, and I can get into the bios but in about 10 sec the fans ramp from slow to fast, and the the system shuts down (I can't tell how fast the fans are going, system shuts down before I can get that far into the bios).

I'm using the included HSF, and some crappy silicone thermal paste. I've unistalled and reinstelled the HSF three times (making sure to clean the chip retention clamp and copper plate on the heat sink). I'm using just a tinny bit of thermal past.

I haven't done a full build since my 1.4ghz thunderbird. I'm stumpped. It seems like a heat issue (from the ramping of fans), but I can't figure out what I'm missing. Anyone have any thoughts?

Ok, I get the doof award for this one. Needless to say it was somethign simple and stupid I overlooked (I'll blame it on the glee of haveing a up to date system again, and this being my first ever intel build).

And what would that be, for future references purpose?

The ATX12V 4-pin connector?
The Model M is not for the faint of heart. You either like them or hate them.
