i plan on purchasing a new shuttle by the end of summer. i love the G2 chassis. currently the SD32G2 will only support C2D. any chance someone knows if a quad core capable G2 is on the horizon? i plan on purchasing after the july price cuts. thanks.

SG33G5 is a G case with the G5 faceplate. It supports Quads.
Good Luck,

I'm not trying to rain on your parade. I am just trying to understand.
I fail to see the attraction of the Shuttle barebones products. I know they're a TR sponsor and don't want to bad-mouth them. But what justification is there for paying almost $300 for a sexy case and outdated chipset mobo?
Is there some other advantage that I can't see?
I'd love to be wrong here.
BTW - their website is slow as cold molasses.

Thats the price you pay for mobility I guess. I agree with JJCDAD, you would be better off getting a modular case like those from Silverstone. If your interested, the one that I was going to get, SG01, takes everything from a 8800 to a full size PSU and it is a little bit bigger than a shuttle. Its barebone, so you pick the motherboard which means down the line if you need to you can change it.

Not quite. Usually barebone means case+mobo. The
Silverstone SG01 is a SFF
case which supports any µATX mobo, full size PSU, and full size graphics cards. You get the sexy of the Shuttle case without being handcuffed by proprietary hardware.

Shuttle= Understated, small, quiet and powerful. Their G case is smaller than any others I've seen with equal expandability.
They are expensive and rumors persist they are a takeover target by Asus and ECS.

heya i wanted to point out that there a few other cases out there:
the qpack (my personal fav)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLi ... ck&x=0&y=0
the microfly (about the same as the qpack)
(sorry cant find this one on the egg)
the antec (too small for adequte cooling)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6811129019
the fragbox (too dam expensive)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... pk=fragbox
Spec-Research
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6811292003
the lain li case (interesting design)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6811112113
these cases will accept any MATX boards - currently the best are the Asus P5k-VM or the Gigabyte GA-G33M-DS2R
i know the asus has penryn support, dunno bout the GB one (trying to figure that out now)
if you plan on overclocking note that the problem with the 1:1 memory divider with the GB board has be resolved with a bios update

I just bought my dad an SG33G5. It's damn sexy, supports quad C2D's and 1333MHz FSB. It doesn't support DDR3, but I wouldn't call it outdated hardware
