HTPC for TIVO - need anything special?

Postposted on Mon Feb 16, 2009 8:51 am

I just helped my sister build an HTPC that would work well with TIVO.

Parts and Software are:

Hardware - AMD X2-3800, Gigabyte GA-M78SM-S2H mobo, 2GB DDR2-800 memory, 80GB HDD, Samsung DVD-RW, Silverstone Sugo case, Antec Neo 500W Modular PSU, wireless NIC, Bluetooth KB & Mouse.

Software - WinXP Pro, Nero LiquidTV.

For those of you that have TIVO, do you use LiquidTV? Is there another program out there that is better to use? We did the build up here and she lives in California, so there was no way to check out how TIVO worked with that particular program, or if there is a better way to setup the machine for TIVO. She's renting a house with friends and the TIVO box is upstairs, whereas she's downstairs and away from the cable connection. She would also like to use her iPhone as a bluetooth remote - anyone has that setup going? I know she has the machine hooked-up and running.

Thanks.
