SB51G and printing

Wed May 21, 2003 7:31 pm

This may be a really dumb question, so I apologize ahead of time. I'm wondering how I can hook up my SB51G to my printer. There's no 25-pin connector on the case, of course, so I searched my local electronics superduperstore for something that would allow me to plug the printer cable into one of the USB or Firewire ports, for example, but apparently such things don't exist. I looked at the Shuttle web site to see if they sell some sort of adaptor cable. They offer something with a 25-pin female adaptor on one end and what looks like a hard drive or FDD connector on the other end. I'm jiggered if I know how to plug that into my Shuttle. Thanks in advance for your help.

Most newer printers have USB jacks on the back... they require a special USB cable, though. Mine has both parrallel and USB, so that when I upgraded, I just bought a USB cable that would fit the bill.

Isn't there another solution - a parallel to usb converter cable? If you do a google search you can see a few examples. I don't know how well they work but I am in a similar situation and am looking for the simplest, cheapest solution.
