Z5500 and universal remotes

Wed Oct 08, 2008 12:01 pm

I've tried all of the tips online, but I have not yet been able to program a comcast 3 device universal remote to operate my Z5500 speakers.

Does anybody have any experience getting any universal remote to work with the logitech Z5500 or Z680 speakers?

I own a Z5500 and a 550 universal remote. They work together like a charm.

Logitech's Harmony remotes are programmed on the computer, so there are no codes, so to speak.

No codes. Just choose the X5500s under amplifiers. Everything is pre-programmed.

It just means you need to get with the times and get a Harmony remote. I love my 880.

As a former Cocmast employee, please take note when I tell you those remotes are UTTER CRAP.

If you simply want to talk to the cable box and just turn the TV on/off while changing volume ON THAT TV, they're acceptable.

If you are talking to anything beyond TV+STB, you are not going to get much help from Cocmast Support (even if you get the rare rep who really wants to help).

Further, if you're a masochist and still trying to get it working, note that the Cocmast remotes are preprogrammed aka non-learning remotes. If it's not listed in the little pamphlet that comes with the remote, it will not work correctly, and likely will not work at all.

You're somewhat boned, yes. At the least you'll be getting a Harmony if you really want to talk at those speakers.
Please don't edit my signature for me. Thanks.

I pretty much would get a logitech remote if I were in the market, but I'm not.

All I wanted to be able to do is power, volume, mute and "input"
