Either I'm blind or you linked the wrong page because I can't see anything on that page about price. :-?

Neither could I, but a google search brang up 15000$ per pair, so only slightly expensive...

The official Klipsch website prices them at $20,000 a pair. And I thought really hard about spending almost $1,400 on a pair of Bose 901's. Which sound pretty good I must say. But with $20,000 I could buy a decent pickup-truck.

I was trying to guess he placed it in his shopping cart, which then mentioned a price in the corner.
Then I noticed I can't put anything in the shopping cart.

It only displays the price to likely buyers based on location, income level and gender.

For example, have your wife load up the same page.. I'm betting the price will not be there. This is so you can show her the items you wish to purchase without shocking her by immediately showing the price.

EDIT:
more seriously.. it must be location because the price displays for me in IE, Firefox and Opera.
unless the others are using chrome or some other crappy browser.

Hmm... I remember them making home sound systems.
And BTW Lexus car speakers are simply the best in the world.

I'm sure they're decent, but I'm quite sure they dont rival any high-end home speakers... and they're probably just badged with the "mark levinson" name... probably made by sony or polk ;)

Bah, I still say if I'm gonna spend 5 figures on speakers, they will be the Legacy Whispers. If I was rich, I wouldn't settle for anything less. I've been in love with those since the mid 1990's. Always gotta have something to shoot for, no?

With all due respect, you're not supposed to look at speakers. That's what tellies, monitors and girlfriends are for.

If you buy ugly speakers for 20K, you won't have a g/f very long.

Obviously, you are not tuned in to the world of high-end audiophiles. There are turntables -- the old-fashioned things that spin vinyl records -- that cost more than $20K. And, for that price, they don't even have tone arms (see: SME Series V here & here) or pickup cartridges -- those are "extra" -- and equally as expensive.

I have an acquaintance who just built an addition to his house expressly for listening to records in stereo -- vinyl, not CDs. Never mind the special construction -- 2x6 studs on 12" centers for the walls with 1" plywood under the sheet rock -- dimensions of room based on the cube root of 2 ( L = 24 * 2^(1/3) feet, W = 12 * 2^(2/3) feet, H = 12 feet, interior dimensions to the nearest 1/8th inch - that's 30' 2-7/8" x 19' 0-5/8" x 12' 0" - something to do with the distribution of acoustic resonances). He spent OVER $300K on the stereo system -- turntable, tone arms (he has two - one of the SME model I referenced above; don't remember the other one - both mounted on the same turntable), cartridges (two of those, too - different ones), phono preamps (one for each cartridge), control preamp, power amps (eight monophonic - single channel ones), speakers and sub-woofers. Nothing else. No CD player, no televison screen, no DVDs, no MP3 player, no nothing but playback for old-fashioned two-channel stereo vinyl records. (BTW, he owns probably close to 10K records.)

Moral of the story: If you've got money, someone will build something for you to spend it on.

I'm still quite pleased with my Infinity Crescendo CS-3008 main speakers eleven years later. I don't intend to upgrade for a while.

I didn't pay full price for them. I got a really good deal because I know a guy who works at a place that sells them. I paid less than half of the MSRP for the pair, plus he threw in a center channel for me at no cost because it was the previous years model that didn't sell.

My eyes are being opened. My Bose 901's aren't as great as I thought they we're. And they are Bose's FLAGSHIP speaker. I love speakers that look old fashioned. Probably from good memories at my grandparents when I was a little child, and they had some nice old speakers. I've been checking out the Klipsch Cornwall 3's, and they look antique enough for me and probably sound decent.

Among audiophiles, Bose is a 4-letter word. Expecting the electronics box to somehow make 9 4.5" drivers cover the entire frequency range from 20 to 20K is ludicrous.
What we have today is way too much pluribus and not enough unum.

Now i wouldn't say they are ugly + they are worth all the money for their specs and design in my book! You should come see some ugly lamps for 10.000$ here in Copenhagen:)))

BTW, the best time for buying some of the same flavor is now, you can probably get the price down to 5000$ for both. Economy is killing the luxury makers like plague..

I just switched out my Sony floor standing tower speakers for some 16" high one's taken off of a boom box. For watching TV, they really are fine. I'll just need to pick up a sub at some point. *shrug*
