Sounds good after all these years

I recently hooked up my Cambridge SoundWorks PC Works 2.1 as my primary speakers. I'm giving my trusty Klipsch v2-400 4.1's a rest for a bit (I'm transitioning them to living room use soon). Man, these CSW's still rock. Nowadays I wouldn't look beyond Logitech for a new setup, but I'm still very pleased with the PC Works' quality. Nowhere near as clear or deep as the Klipsch -- Anonymous 4 music sounds markedly worse than on the Klipsch, but still a pleasure to listen to. They also have that slightly muddled, strong mid-range quality that I grew up with in the video game and computer universe.

What speakers are you guys listening to, and how long have you had your current set? I'd prefer to keep this to equipment used directly with a computer. Home stereo and living room setups are in another league. Let's keep this to computer speakers only unless you use a home stereo hooked up to your computer.

I've been using the Klipsch promedia 2.1 speakers that I bought in 2000 (iirc)? Don't remember the month.
Still sound sweet.

I've been using Klipsch 2.1's since 2002, and mine are still awesome, too. I don't ever play them loud enough to wear them out, really, but I'm still impressed to have them sound this good after 7 years.

I'm still using my original Klipsch v2.400s from I believe 1999. Would prefer a bit more in the midrange and the control pod is a tad gimpy, but they still do a nice job up top and down low. Our other computer is hooked up to my wife's HTIB setup (which is due for an upgrade to an HDMI receiver and "real" speakers at some point).

A pair of Sony SRS-88 speakers from 1992. These things have gone through numerous generations of computers in this household, and yet they've always pulled through.

Logitech Z5300e 5.1 speakers. I've had mines since beginning of 2007.

Logitech Z5500's for the TV. I'm not using them hard anymore. When I was in college it was great to have them, but now I don't really have a good setup for them. Oh well. I find I use my headphones more often anyways because I pretty much only use my laptop now.

Some Z-560s from Feb of 2002. My Bass knob is a little wiggy at times but i love them. Z-5500s will replace these eventually.

Logitech Z560. Had them since 2004. Sadly the subwoofer output to one rear speaker doesn't work any longer so down to 2.1 instead of 4.1. Will replace these at some point though.

Old Altec Lansing 2.1 system that is about as old as that Cambridge set. Lousy treble response over about 8kHz, though. I also have a source-selector switch to flip between those, and a homebrew headphone amp.

I used to have a full-blown stereo system with tower speakers set up around my computer desk back in my college years, and would love to do that again, but my current living circumstances are too cramped for it (also, we like the older lady in the adjacent townhouse, so abusing her with a subwoofer would not be wise). Thus, the larger hardware is confined to the basement.

I've got a set of Abit iDome 2.0 speakers that sound great, and have an optical input. I'd love to find the Abit sub to complete the set, but alas, it is not to be

My Logitech Z2200s aren't quite that old - August-September of 2004 is when I got them. Sound great still, though, and I hope to use them for several more years.

I have Creative Inspire 5700 digital (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Creative-Labs-I ... B00005ULPT). They are 5.1, with external decoder, and currently set up so that X-Fi encodes everything to DTS, passes through digital din, and then the decoder does it's stuff.

They sound alright, but maybe they're not very nice by today's standards, I have no idea.

All I know is that I love if speakers have their own decoder, removes the mess with the wires at the PC end. And pass-through just works.
