Get your 8 bit on

Sun Nov 08, 2009 2:07 pm

I just stumbled onto commoradio.net (which apparently has only been up for a couple of weeks): C-64/Amiga lo-fi classics streaming out of the deep past across the intratubes directly to your machine (which probably has more L1 cache than those systems had total memory). Relive your 8bit childhood or ride the retro-hipster wave; some of these, particularly the protracker Amiga tracks, hold up remarkably well if only because modern techno still sounds a lot like an 80s video game arcade. Of course, some of the Amiga tracks were recorded recently, too.

(C-64 tracks also can be downloaded as MP3s from 6581-8580.com, which is what led me to the above site).

To Start Press Any Key'. Where's the ANY key?
If something's hard to do, then it's not worth doing
You know, boys, a nuclear reactor is a lot like a woman. You just have to read the manual and press the right buttons.

The best C64 tune, ever - Comic Bakery by Martin Galway:

Though if we're allowing NES or GB tracks as '8-bit', the SMB theme, LoZ theme, Metroid II tunnel theme, and the Metroid Brinstar and Kraid themes would have to be up there.
