Corsair HS1A Gaming Headset

Tue Aug 09, 2011 10:26 am

Hi all,

The Corsair HS1A is going to be available as a Newegg's Shell Shocker today, and I was wondering if there is any difference between this and the USB version that Cyril reviewed a couple months back. I'm looking at primarily using these for gaming and Skype. Would I be missing out on anything by not getting the USB version?

Thanks!

I believe that the headset itself is basically the same, but this is designed to use output from a soundcard or motherboard. So you lose the USB soundcard of the HS1. From what I've read the HS1A is best paired with a discrete sound card.

Excellent.. I've got a discrete card now, and when I get around to upgrading my machine later this year, I'll definitely be putting in another sound card..

Thanks!
