Nice. Personally I'd get 2 separate drives than a combo drive; it makes copying discs faster and easier, it also makes playing one CD/DVD while you have another data disc or whatever in the other drive more multitasking-ish. I would also make sure I have a keybaord & mouse. And a monitor, Trinitron, preferably.

I'm not too up-to-date on that Soyo mainboard and what it's personality is like. Or the 9200 graphics card.

personally, i'd recommend a slightly more powerful video card, since he does cad work. even if it's the 9600 pro, i think it would make a difference.

I personally would go with separte drives - at newegg you can get separate LiteOn CDRW and a DVD drives for ~$15 more than that combo drive. Also, if he does CAD a Radeon9600 might be a good idea.

I would go with a different brand name than soyo, as they just killed off their american division, so getting tech support will be almost impossible.

yeah i know...but their board is sexy...i mean...look at it...i also have delt with them before...ie: second sig...quality stuff...plus their bios screen is badass

If your gonna go the KT600 get the MSI...best 600 board out there...Epox 2nd...and the MSI is 12.50 cheaper :wink:
