I have never used a Dell LCD before. But thier CRTs are great and I have heard a lot of good thingsabout their LCDs. I have a samsung LCD its awesome!!!! :D I bet that dell would be just as good. Just make sure you get a warranty with it. Mine came with 3 years.

I would not purchase an LCD monitor that lacked DVI input. The difference in image quality between analog and digital modes is quite noticeable.

How noticeable? Right now I have a 19" CRT. My video is VIA Unichrome 64 MB shared with main RAM, so VGA is my only option. How much image quality will I lose over this CRT?

It is a very noticable drop in quality , as you end up with two analog conversions instead of none with the DVI cable.

Dell-Branded LCDs are, in general, quite nice. Unless you have an amazing CRT, you should gain plenty display quality, it just won't be as good as a similar panel driven with DVI.

Thanks, I've decided on getting a Ti4200 for the DVI.

You also will need a DVI capable monitor. Unfortunately this rules out the Dell that you originally picked.
