Samsung SW40B CRRW

Thu Jun 03, 2004 4:06 pm

My CDR has been acting up, and not burning CDs.

It spins, gets to 4% and then throws errors up. The CD is ruined, so it much write something.

I was thinking befor I scrape some cash together and get a new one (or DVD-RW) I would flash the firmware with a new model, except I cant find it.

Its a Samsung SW40B, I went to the samsung site, searched for the model, and it could not find anything.

Anyideas?

Cheers!

http://www.drvupdate.com has a live update utility that will analyze your drive, look up, and update the firmware.

I don't think that's the model number, as there [as you said] isn't anything on the samsung website, nor is there anything but 1 link on google that goes anywhere.

Check your device manager, or better yet, run SiSoft Sandra to see if a different model number is listed.

OK... I found a new firmware...

Just installed it...

Running OK now... although I doubt that has anything to do with it...

I realised I was running folding@home while trying to burn an MP3 CD...

I do apologise for my stupidity! :o

foling@home shouldnt affect your ability to burn a cd even if you have an older system . it is suppose to be set to lowest cpu priority so that it dosent interfear with normal operations of your system . check its priority in windows task manager under the process tab make sure its set to LOW it might have somehow gotten changed to a higher priority .
