There is usually a setting somewhere in the BIOS (probably on the Power Management page) that controls what the system does if A/C power is interrupted and comes back on. The choices are:
- Remain off.
- Turn on.
- Turn on only if the system was on when the power was interrupted, otherwise remain off.
A system that turns itself on at odd times is often the result of incorrect BIOS settings. My wife's computer used to randomly power up all by itself... we'd just come into the room and discover that it was on, even though nobody had been using it. We eventually figured out that it was powering up whenever someone called us on the phone! Turns out the mobo had a BIOS setting that told the system to power up whenever the phone line connected to the modem rings!
Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.
