Digicam as Webcam

Does anyone know if its possible to use my digicam as a webcam via USB? I think i can but im not sure what software i'll need. If anyones got any ideas, theyll be much appreciated.

Depends on the digital camera. If it has that as a feature in the specs (many of Minolta's "X" line are that way) then it can do it. Otherwise I wouldn't count on it.

Most non DSLR cams can use the composite video out(those that have) as a digital viewfinder. So if you have a video in card and a program that can take its feed from that, it should go. Although with a slower framrate then a true webcam.

If you want anything then just an image, get a real webcam, they are pretty cheap nowdays.

I would be interested to hear how digi cams cope in low light as compared to webcams?
