I beg to differ. I have had the same batteries in my mouse since June and they are still at full. Alkalines too I think.

What happens is after a couple of weeks the cursor will go to sleep, I have to tap the mouse to wake it up. If I don't continuously move the mouse, then it falls asleep shortly there after. I've looked at the settings and see no reason for it to be doing this.
I'm attributing that sleepiness to battery life. When I replace the batteries with fresh ones, everything is fine for another two weeks.
