Modern SATA drives don't need jumpers to be set. You plug each drive in to its own thin cable.
Older PATA drives should be set to "Cable Select" anyway and the drive on the end of the cable will be master, the drive in the middle will be slave. Make sure you get the right end of the cable plugged in to the motherboard.
Only on really old PATA drives do you actually need to set Master with Slave present and Slave on the two drives.
