Splitscreen Gaming & Xbox 360 Controller

Wed Jan 16, 2013 10:09 pm

Ok, so I have two related questions.
1) Now that I have my new A8-5600K HTPC set up, I'd like to use it to play some games on my TV with the fiance. She's new to gaming and said she likes racing games. I saw on TR that Dirt Showdown has a splitscreen mode on the PC. Are there any other games (racing or otherwise) that people know have split screen modes? I guess I'm looking for recommendations since I'm not made of money.

2) I was thinking that it would be cheapest to go down to the local used game store and pick up a couple Xbox 360 controllers to use. I've done some reading and it seems simple, except for the fact that they mention needing some kind of wireless adapter to pick up the signal? I thought they were just bluetooth which my mobo has.. Do I need this adapter, and if so, which one should I get? If I do split screen, do I need two adapters?

I believe DiRT 3 also does split-screen. Also, there's Dungeon Defenders, which my kids really like. I haven't had a chance to get into it yet, but it's an interesting RPG-tower defense mash-up.

I believe Borderlands 2 does split-screen, as well.

Xbox doesn't use bluetooth so yes you need the wireless adapter to use the controller and you only need one. You'll just have to sync your controllers to it after you hook it up and you'll be good to go.
