Weird Question: Xonar DSX locks up at midnight

Postposted on Sun Mar 10, 2013 4:58 pm

Hello,

since I've started to use Xonar DSX, I've been experiencing a weird system stop for 1 second. Every time at exactly midnight (00:00:00) the sound locks up for exactly 1 second and it stutters. Then, after 1 second (00:00:01), everything goes back to normal. Nothing is written on event log, no warnings, no voltage abnomaly, nothing.

What is it ? Is this something I should be worry about ?

Edit:My current setup is as it is on my sig line. I'm using win7.

Sounds like a driver bug. Do you have the latest ones installed?

Have you tried ripping out the DSX and waiting til midnight? If it still happens, the issue likely isn't the card itself. The symptoms sound more like a software issue anyway. Definitely install the latest drivers and if that doesn't work, try the previous ones.

Without Xonar, the hiccups doesn't happen.
I'm using UNi Xonar 1815 v1.64 beta drivers cos ASUS drivers seems to be buggy and a bit unstable. There is a detailed explanation of the problem at brainbit's blog.

A side note, realtek onboard audio is also enabled. I explained why in some other thread; I need my music on my speakers while I use voicecomm with my headset.

I assume we will point fingers at uni xonar drivers now ? :)

Naturally.

Do first party drivers seem to have the issue? I'm not necessarily saying switch permanently back to them but it's worth a shot as a troubleshooting step.

You shouldn't feed the Xonar a signal at midnight.

I'm "old enough" to remember gremlins :) one of my old pc's named gizmo. I named it gizmo because it was back in ending years of 20th century and I had a dial-up connection with a weird data plan; it was 1/3rd or so price of a normal connection but it was for midnight to 8-9 am :) Rest billed as extra..

I'll uninstall uni-xonar drivers, install official drivers today. Will update this with result.
