All AMD Gaming Rig

Since the upcoming PS4 and XBOX will have AMD hardware both CPU and GPU, will it make sense to assume that ported PC games that were developed for the aforementioned consoles will run better on AMD-based CPU/GPU PC as well?

Maybe, maybe not. You won't know for a fact until that time, so kinda pointless to speculate

Remember the Xbox 360 uses an older ATI 29xxx demo/alpha card design and even though that console has games galore, the ported version run better most of the time on Nvidia GPUs.

So if this trend keeps up, a ported PS4 (all AMD hardware) game running on an ALL AMD pc would suck. :p

I don't think you can make that assumption. Since a console is a well-defined standard platform, game devs can heavily optimize to take advantage of the console's capabilities and avoid its limitations. Extrapolating from that to the PC platform -- even with the same vendor's silicon under the hood -- is risky.

 Exactly! Nvidia still has plenty of $$$ to bribe developers into optimizing the console ports (even from next-gen consoles) for their hardware. And it's a good thing (/me hugs my Titan)!

You beat me to it! Everytime I hear about consoles having AMD parts as being the reason that Nvidia is doomed, I get a chuckle since Nvidia has apparently been doomed since 2006....

Think about it this way: Will the version of GCN that is in the consoles still be relevant 3 years from now? 5 years from now? 7 years from now? (where 7 years is about the lifetime of the last generation of consoles at the first tier....)

Just wait for local AMD fanbots to tell you how wrong you are and that it's them who will be having the last "chuckle"!

I'm a staunch Radeon fanboi, and have always wondered myself why the ports always fail. But eh, as long as the game is not a slideshow, I'll live.

if you want an all AMD gaming rig, I think you'd be far better off buying a PS4 than a PC

Dunno. If you're handy with overclocking, Micro Center has an FX-6300 and a 970-chipset motherboard for $154 (no rebates!); pair that with a 2GB 7850 and you're doing pretty good for about $300. You can pick up the rest of your components for ~$200 and have a pretty hot little gaming machine that's a whole lot more capable than the PS4 (in terms of what you can do with it besides just playing games.) ╮(•˘︿ ˘•)╭
