PC Gamer's six reasons PC is winning E3

Postposted on Sun Jun 16, 2013 3:16 pm

PC Gamer has a interesting take on which is better, PC vs the up coming consoles. I already knew the PC was better but here is PC Gamers list.

1. The Oculus Rift
2. It’s got the best graphics
3. No ten-year cycle (compared to consoles)
4. Be as social as you like – or don’t
5. All the games that matter – new and old
6. It’s cheap (compared to console game prices)

Check out the article if you want more in depth explanations for the six points.

PC is a fantastic platform but most big-ticket games right now are console ports with trashy DRM schemes and a story and mechanics that have been done a hundred times before. It's too late for the current crop of major developers but hopefully the next batch currently emerging into the mainstream will be better. I see a lot of good signs in crowdfunding initiatives and indie games are starting to approach good production values, so the next few years should be a very interesting time.

I am so happy the new consoles are a few months away. I can think it will do nothing but help PC game development for the next 2 to 4 years. Then I think it will be like the console ports we have now.
Time will tell I guess.

But I am looking forward to the sports titles since I will probably be getting one of the consoles..probably the Xbox one but I will be waiting to see what has the best games and features. Also if there is a performance difference graphics wise or anything else.

To be fair the PC games aren't really cheaper than console versions when buying them new or pre-ordering them (which is how most people do it). Not to mention that PS+ sub provides you with lots of free games with a single yearly fee - here's what's $50 gives you with PS+ (all these games were free for subscribers):

PC Gamer is the equivalent of a troll publication these days. I miss the real PC Gamer of the mid-late 90s.

Also, for Oculus Rift - it might not be a "PC exclusive" in future:

All future consoles should not be generalized only by that awful crap from Microsoft

The UK version is still good. The website is good for news, maybe not so much for the other articles.

Yeah, I am excited about PC gaming as well with the new consoles coming.
At least, now the ports wont be crippled as much by the dumbed down graphics on the consoles.

I'd be super excited about the PC world altogether right now if it wasn't for the push Microsoft seems to be making to kill the pc completely.
You don't have to feel safe to feel unafraid.

 Judging by my personal experience with Microsoft's recent desktop and mobile OSes and their environments, as well as Microsoft's recent "disaster" with console - it seems like they want to just kill themselves.
