Most people are not willing to shell out $500 plus just for a card that sucks at 3D but has excellent 2D. Matrox is going to have to lower its prices if it wants to stay around for much longer, as most other companies are getting close to having as good of 2D as them.

As far as Matrox vs. 3dfx goes, I'd go with the original kings of muli-display cards in a heartbeat.
