Hello guys and dolls, just a quick little question that I would like to know the answer to. I have an asus V8200 Gf3 graphics card which has been really good, and very reliable the question is do you think it is worth buying the new geforce 4 asus Ti graphics card. Please respond soon

These types of questions are never quick and easy.

Is the card fast enough for your needs? Can you afford a new card? Why do you want a GF4?

Personally I run a graphics card until it chokes on the latest and greatest games at the settings I want to play at. In the past, this has meant that about every 3 product cyles years I upgrade the card.

Well yes its fast,But I dont feel that I sould wait 3 years for another especially when new games are coming out which demand more power so im still stuck, Yes I could afford it but would I see improvements from the old card

I don't understand what you are asking.

You say your card is fast enough. So why would you want to waste money on a new card? Keep it until it isn't fast enough, or overclock it, then get a new card. Then, when you need a new card, the GF4's will have dropped in price, and there may be other options as well then.

I don't wait 3 years between cards either. I wait 3 product cycles. Example: I had a Voodoo3. I replaced it with a GF2MX. I then replaced the MX with a GF3 Ti.

Would you "see" improvements? Probably not in resolutions below 1280x1024. The GF3 is still wicked fast, especially when overclocked a bit. You would probably see AA speed and quality improvements with the GF4 due to the Accuview Antialiasing tech. Is it worth it? Not for me. Maybe for you.

Agreeing with Vrock, the latest reviews of the GF4 have shown its major advantage over the GF3 is nearly no loss of FPS with 4x FSAA turned on where the GF3 took a pretty big performance hit. Otherwise, it didn't beat a GF3Ti500 by much.

If you already have a GeForce3, then my advice is to wait until at least November before you upgrade again. I plan to keep my GeForce3 Ti200 at least that long.

Three years on one video card is the upper limit for me, and that would only be if you bought the most expensive latest thing. Overall, I get better average performance and spend less in the long run by buying a step or two below the top-of-the-line and upgrading more frequently (every 1½ years or so).

I'm running a Geforce2 GTS, and I'm not even feeling the need to buy a new card. I only play at 1024x768 though, so it does fine for me.

I'd suggest waiting around at least until the next generation of nVidia or ATI's cards.

my friend has a GF3 and it is wicked fast. when you cansider that atleast over here, everyone has a GF2 mx 400. personally I think that if you have ANY DirectX 8 card you should be ok. and even DX7 cards are good now! geforce2 ultra or radeon 7500 are fine for must things today. personally I really like the georce2 ultra more than the geforce4 mx series
