19inch monitors suggestions

I decided to replace my old 17 inch monitor with new 19inch one. and was considering either viewsonic p95f, p790 or sony g400.
any suggestions?

I have a PF790, and I really like it. My first one died, but it was replaced (cross shipped) hassle-free under warranty. I'm sure there are better monitors, especially for more money, but the PF790 is very solid.

Actually, I'd go for a Samsung monitor. I'm using one myself - SyncMaster 700NF. It's great! The "natural flat" looks really good compared to the regular DynaFlat, the screen is very bright and clear. 19" version of NF should be SyncMaster 900NF, if I'm not mistaken. Check it out, it's worth it.

I have the Samsung 900NF. Very pleased with it. Couple of points: suposedly text not as crisp as 900DF, but color better than DF. At 16x12 on DDR Radeon, text is OK (no more)

On the topic of monitors, how visible are the little wire things on apeture grilles?

Totally depends upon background color. Anything dark = un-noticeable, especially black. White = kinda noticeable. Also depoends upon brightness, high brightness + white can = very noticeable. Lower brightness = less noticeable.

I had an old Gateway VX900 (Hitachi 751) for a long time. It was great in its day, but the newer monitors are much better. I bought a Samsung 955DF last Spring. It was cheap, but I was disappointed with the image quality (or the <b>lack</b> thereof). I ended up replacing it by the end of the year. My brother recently got a Viewsonic P95f. It is excellent in all respects. Aperture Grill (Trinitron) monitors are superior to shadow mask, IMO. The flat screen is also nice. Look for a 19" monitor that supports 1280x1024 at 85+Hz refresh.

Incidentally, the 19" CRTs are still much better than 17" LCDs that cost twice as much.

One of my monitors is a Viewsonic PF790. I'm very satisfied with its quality. Considering the price ($330 USD) this monitor was everything I hoped it would be. The flat screen is great.

I have the Sony CPD-4401, paid through the nose for it but it has great clarity. I see the wire occasionally but it is nearly invisible. the Flat screen also makes for beautiful viewing, as long as the screen is not finger printed, see kids. Married to my G-force2 card I get excellant resolution at extemly high settings. I would happily purchase another one, unless I could afford the 21" offering instead, my main reason for getting the 19" in the first place.

I have a Samsung 900IFT 19" monitor. I have had no issues with it at all and it supports BNC connects (which I use). It's a little old, but you can still find it. A good place to get ok monitors for a good price is http://www.dfsdirect.ca They were selling 19" Trinitrons for $199.00 CAD..(I bought 2 of them for my "old" machines.

I've got an old 19 inch sony 400ps manufactured in 1998 that I picked up as a refurb cheap at some computer show. I notice 1 or 2 aperture grill lines once in a while, but only in stuff like Word. It's not nearly enough to annoy me.

Works fine for gaming though.
