AMD Video Converter - Downgraded?

Postposted on Thu Jan 05, 2012 11:31 am

All,

I've been using the AMD Video Converter for a while now, and just recently rolled up my drivers to 11.12. I now for the life of me can't find a way to launch it like you used to be able to? Under the AMD Vision CP, all I have is this now:

That text you see was always there before, but you had a button to press just above it to launch it manually.

Has anyone else figured out how to run it now? a search on Google reveals this as a "it's not just me" situation... :/

Looks like ATI's (on) crack driver development team strikes (out) again...

OK, maybe that's a little harsh; their drivers are a lot better than they were 10 years ago. But they've still got a lot of room for improvement.

I am using the same driver (11.12) and i don't see this issue. You might want to reinstall the driver suit and see if that works for you.

Self resolved the issue peeps - You gotta turn Crossfire off first :o - Never needed to before, but whatever changed in the drivers means you can't use Crossfire and Video Encode at the same time.

Stupid, stupid drivers...

Another beef I have is that these drivers still crash my Winxp system during any OpenCL or GL intensive task. Will be moving to my new rig this weekend hope I no longer have these issues.

OS: Win7 x64 ultimate
ATI Radeon HD 4890 (single card)
Catalyst Version 12.1

under my video converter page it looks exactly like the picture above with no option of launching the converter.
I downloaded the AMD Media Codec Package (12-1_vista_win7_32-64) from http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/Pages/radeon_win7-64.aspx#2
to make sure Avivo was installed and nothing...

what am i missing here?
