I'm comparing apples to apples, launch prices are always high, street prices always vary, we are working off a rumor that the MSRP will be $185 but that price will depend on what the card offers over the HD 6850 it competes with.
I'm sure their will be a surcharge of $10 just because it's got an HD 7xxx name on it but if the card is faster, generates much less heat, uses less power, is offered in a passive solution that works properly or if not passive comes in both dual and single slot coolers depending on the vendor then I'd be good with paying a little more.
the launch price might be high but MIR's always show soon after depending on availability.
but it is a bit disappointing considering I was abstaining from purchasing a 6870 at the great, great price of 145-150 for 2 months now.
if price is your only consideration then you should probably buy an HD 6870..... did you really believe that AMD would release a brand new product superior to the previous one by every measure for less money?
is this what ppl are expecting, better performance by every measure for less the moment the part is released?
understand this is all rumors at this point but they seem reasonable and tbh while I'd love to get high end video cards for $50 I don't believe anyone is going to offer them anytime soon.
these companies, Intel, Nvidia, AMD, and so on are trying to maximize profits not losses, I don't understand how a launch MSRP that is $6.00 higher than the previous generation is so terrible.... if it's true because as mentioned atm it's all rumors.
Splitting hairs, the source of every prolonged discussion on the web.
