AMDs 7870 best amd value?

Postposted on Sat Mar 31, 2012 4:54 pm

I don't know what everyone else think but i feel AMDs 7870 is a awesome card with outstanding overclockability If they would just drop the price on it to say 275$ it could be one of the best selling cards.
The things overclock like a beast and will hang with there 7950 for the most part add in crossfire they are crazy fast.
I feel the card is under rated by the gaming community, well i don't hear a lot or praises about it.

I still want 2 gtx 680s those things are monsters, but i thought the 7870 deserved a little shout out.

It's partly because we are all expecting the green team's competing card to be better (I am, at least), and partly because none of these cards have settled into their proper price points. It will happen eventually as it always does, probably once both companies have released the full lineup of new hotness.

I'd have to say it's the HD7850. For 250 bucks, It can OC well past the stock clock on stock voltage and bring performance in league with GTX 580. The only reason I downclocked the mem on mine is because I don't want to increase voltage (and overtax my 350W PSU).

Shouldn't you have the 700 watt PSU in your gaming rig and the 350W in your HTPC?

7870 is probably what I'll upgrade to once price drops. It's the best AMD's had to offer midrange in a while. Meanwhile the ol 470's still got some life left in it.
