Greetings,

I picked up a Dell 3007 WFP off Craigs list. The after market video cable I've learned is not up to the task since I'm getting garbled lines above 1280x800 resolution, which may be why I got a good deal. Looking on the Dell support forums I've learned that I need a DVI-D Dual Link cable.

My question to you all is what cable to get? On a related note, I've got an ASUS 6870 based video card currently, and following the latest system guide I'm considering a GTX670 card. I should add I've got an ASUS z68 board, 16 gigs, 2600k too. Thanks one and all for your thoughts.

That monitor will need a dual-link DVI cable and a video card with dual-link DVI output to run at native resolution. Geforce 670 should have dual-link DVI port on it. As for cabling just look for DVI cabling has all the pins on it like this.

You should be able to find compatible cabling with your favorite etailer (I recommend newegg). I would avoid B&M stores as that they mark-up their A/V cabling by 200% or more.

Any AMD/ATI card since the Radeon x1600 supports dual link DVI.

Here are a couple of good dual-link DVI cables for less than $10 each:

P.S.: Have you tried the second DVI port on your graphics card (if it has one)?
