I wind up donating old parts to my brother more often than not.

I personally like to sell my stuff, family or otherwise. I always look up my system/component or an equivalently performing system/component (if the parts I'm selling are older) and beat the lowest price by a fair margin. In the end, the second owner gets a deal that they can't pass up and I get a subsidy for my new purchase.

As for the video card, I still think the the HD 7850 is the king of the hill, boss of the toss, best value for the dollar. And it'll last for years or four years - whichever comes later.

Yep, I know, but I'd rather spend $200 and be totally satisfied than $100 and not be. But it's totally dependent upon Vrock's needs. An HD 7770 might be perfect for him. :shrug:

I'm hoping it will be. Really all I want to do is play some cross-platform games at a smoother frame rate with a bit more eye candy than the PS3 can muster. The PS3 is getting long in the tooth and I plan to use it solely for console exclusive games in the future. This minor vid card upgrade will easily hold me at least until the next gen consoles come out.

I'd be curious to know how dishonoured works out for you at 1080p.

I'm sitting on the fence at the moment, trying to decide if I can get away with a 7770GHz (I get a free copy of Farcry3) for the HTPC, or whether I need something more powerful and should stick to what I have for now.

Dishonored at 1080p, Vsync, Text. Detail = High, Mod. Detail = Normal, FXAA.....60fps on my 6850.

[Edit] Sorry, I realized after I posted that 60fps and Vsync was pretty obvious. Frame rates were around 130 without vsync IIRC. I turned it on almost immediately since there was a fair amount of tearing.
