bios flashing

Hey guys, I need some help. I just picked up a cheap gets 250 to go with my 9800gtx+ to sli. Wondering if anyone can steer me in the right direction of instructions on how to flash the 9800 with the gts bios. Windows doesn't give me an option to sli the current setup in the nvidia control panel

The utility generally used to flash Geforce VGABIOS is called "nvflash", although I have no idea if it supports cards that old.

Sounds like a recipie for disaster, to me.

Make sure you do some research before you flash, sometime you can get away with doing that with stock reference cards. In the case of nonstandard cards you can end up with a brick, check before you leap into it.

Bad idea right from the get go. You MAY get it to work, but getting a card that more closely matches your original is clearly the better choice.

I flashed it with an evga bios since that's what my card is, and all seemed to go well, until windows loads after the driver is installed, then just black screen. Flashed it again with a zotac bios and everything has worked well since. I haven't got to try it in sli since I do not have a bridge, but it doesn't matter now as I have picked up 2 5830s that work great in crossfire. The gets 250 is now in my media center and the 9800 sits on my desk

I remember flashing my Geforce 6800gs to be a 6800gt. It actually worked perfect with the other stuff unlocked and I gained a few more frames per second. I haven't thought of trying to play around with any of the "newer" cards though.

Yeah, I had read that the 250 was just a rebadged 9800gtx+, but all the old tutorials were gone from the site they were hosted on. I picked it up for 20 bucks, so it was more of a learning experience. If I bricked the card, oh well, I wouldn't care too much.
