AMD Rumor Mill?

Postposted on Mon Aug 12, 2013 10:29 am

My 6850 1gb is starting to show its age with crashes and stuttering in some games. The crashes can be avoided if you drop the vram clocks from 1000mhz to 950mhz. My question is has there been any talk about when the next generation from AMD will appear? I don't mind waiting a few months of underclocking if there is something better coming out soon.

New top end card, but I don't think an entire new generation is due until next year.

@OP - Have you verified that your GPU's heatsink isn't clogged with dust? As long as the fan is still functional, that card should still have a decent amount of life left in it.

If crashes become more and more frequent and you have to lower clocks more and more, it is probably failing and eventually it will stop working.

Here is an interesting article AMD's forthcoming GPUs. I would suggest to visit www.vr-zone.com as well they get news quickly.

I used to be a die-hard ATI user for years. I finally decided to try Nvidia almost 2 months ago and do not regret it. Games that support PhysX feel a lot more engaging. I might go back if AMD comes with a decent physics technology which will be popular amongst developers.

He has promised he will not create a fake profile for such information as officially he cannot. :(

The cooler was pretty full of dust so I cleaned it out. Now the system will not crash every time when running a bench at stock speeds but only can finish the test half of the time.

Got a new xfx 7950 the other day. So far no crashes during benchmarks or games. Games run much smoother with more eye candy to boot too.
