Hi Guys:

Due to CASE constraints what is the fastest graphics card with a pcb less than 9 in?

I have already found the zotac gtx760 and the new r9 270 Is close any others?

I need an upgrade to my XFX HD7850 DD

It is 770 if you get rid of the stock HSF cooler and throw in a shorter HSF solution. The PCB length for GK104-based stuff is tiny, half the card's length is taken up by the HSF.

The 680 and 770 PCB is 11" long and actually covers the entire length of the card.
It's the 670, 660, 660Ti and 760 that come with the short PCBs extended via the HSF.

Since the 670 is faster than the 760 while using less power, I'd say the card OP wants is a 670.
Careful of some factory OC models, as some of those use the 680 PCB for better voltage control.

Less than 7", including heatsink:

I don't suppose that you've considered upgrading to a better case?

The Zotac coolers are as short as the PCB too.

I don't think you'll get any better than a 660Ti or 760 outside of that rather unusual Asus card. Powering a fully-enabled GK104 die normally needs more PCB area for power regulation, exceeding your 9"
By the way, that Asus is short because it's EXCEPTIONALLY TALL. Not only does the card protrude a good 1" higher than the typical card, the power connectors face upwards too. You'll struggle to fit that in many HTPC cases such as the Antec and Silverstone options and some of the mITX options will be cramped too. The zotac protrudes slightly but it's probably still 3/4" shorter and you can plug into it with the more flexible 6-pin connectors (the Asus needs a bulky 6+2pin connector).

If you're sticking with your existing case, then note that JAE's linked card is partially a blower which will exhaust some of the hot air directly outside the case.
The Zotacs are twin fan affairs, so they'll be quieter but as they don't really exhaust any air you'll need better case cooling to compensate.

The $294 Zotac ZT-60802-10P that Chrispy_ suggested is 7.53" long, 4.38" tall and 1.39" wide. (GeForce GTX660Ti)
The $305½ Asus GTX670-DCMOC-2GD5 is 6.7" long, 4.8" tall and 1.6" wide. (GeForce GTX670)
The Zotac ZT-70401-10P is 9.45" long, 4.376" tall and 1.38" wide. (GeForce GTX760)
The XFX FX-795A-TNFC is 10.5" long, 4.4" tall and 1.5" wide. (Radeon HD7950)
The EVGA 03G-P4-2783-KR is 10.5" long and 4.4" tall. (GeForce GTX780)
The Sapphire 100361SR is 10.9" long, 4.4" tall and 1.5" wide. (Radeon R9-290X)

If you care about noise levels, avoid the mini-ITX Asus cards. There's a reason they are so much more compact than other coolers...the fan runs fast to have sufficient cooling. Also, I have a Zotac GTX 660 that is essentially the same design as the first one JAE linked. Reading some reviews, the cooler is sufficient for GTX 660-level power draw but is borderline overwhelmed by higher wattage GPUs like the GTX 660 Ti or GTX 760 - it gets much louder at load with those GPUs.

Imo this is the best (fastest) sub-9" card out right now that balances sound and size: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814121775

That Asus GTX760-DC2OC-2GD5 is 8.6" long, 5" tall and 1.5" wide (GeForce GTX760).

Perhaps the OP just needs a better case. Sugo SG08 (mini-ITX) or SG10 (micro-ATX) support 12.2" or 13.3" long cards, respectively.

The OP never said what case he has or what his motherboard size is...ATX and mATX standards are 9.6" deep (front to back) so unless he's using mini ITX anything under 9" should fit above the motherboard, unless the case is exceptionally cramped or he has a lot of HDDs mounted in front bays or something.

I found this asus but it has a weird power requirement. 760's usually need two six pins but this requires ONE 8 Pin.
My 575 watt PSU has two six pin connectors. I guess I'll have to use a Molex with the 8 pin adaptor but is this optimal? WHat other way can I provide power as I do not have an 8 pin on my psu.. just two six pins.

ASUS GTX760-DC2OC-2GD5

One 6-pin PCIe cable becomes two 6+2 pin PCIe cables for $4½ with free shipping:

Yup, one 8-pin is simply equal to two 6-pin as far as power delivery goes.

Can you customize your case by removing some of your drive cage or cut it with a dremel perhaps. If you can then you could fit a blower style cooler/better card into your system.

Would help to know What case, power supply and other doo dads that are restricting your size requirements.
