Resolution issue with Radeon HD 7750

Postposted on Thu Jan 30, 2014 7:29 pm

So I have been having an odd issue lately.

The specs of the machine I am working with are as follows:
-AMD Phenom II X6 1100T @ 3.30 GHz
-Gigabyte FM3+ 990FX mobo
-16 GB GSkill PC312800
-Sapphire AMD Radeon HD 7750 1 GB

At the moment, I am running 3 monitors off this graphics card. 1 HDMI, 1 DisplayPort, and 1 DVI. Each screen is at 1680x1050. On occasion, I have had an issue with whatever screen is plugged into the DisplayPort port. The resolution will drop, on the displayport connected screen, from 1680x1050 to 1024x768. WHen this happens, I don't see any errors, though the machine will make the sound like a device has been disconnected. When I try to restore the resolution, it will only allow me to select up to 1440x900. Regardless of what resolution I select after the issue has occurred, it won't actually change the resolution any. Currently the only way I have found to resolve the issue is to do a full restart of the machine.

I am running AMD Catalyst 13.12 drivers.

Thanks

It could be as simple as a bad display-port cable losing connectivity with the monitor momentairly. That could cause it to not be able to communicate properly with the monitor until the restart. I would check the cable first.

Yup,

Tried the new cable when I got in this morning, worked like a charm....forgot the 1st rule of PC troubleshooting - physical connections

Thanks,
