Cubix GPU-Extender

Mon Mar 17, 2014 4:06 pm

Anybody have a change to test out the GPU-Extenders from Cubix, yet? Theoretically, it can support up to 4 GPUs per box, with it's own separate power supply. You would install what they call a HIC into a PCI-E16 slot in the host PC, which purportedly supplying PCI-E 16 lanes to each GPU in the Cubix.

Sounds neat from a OpenCL, or as a small renderbox for workstations or higher. I couldn't find many reviews online, and was curious if it would be worth plonking down the $3K-6K price.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that people are using these for 3D rendering, OpenCL code, and Bitcoin mining.
