Dell M6800 with FirePro M6100

Postposted on Mon Apr 21, 2014 10:49 am

I have this laptop hooked up to a docking station and I have 1 external monitor hooked up. I want to use the laptop monitor as my secondary when it is on docking station. Now, I can see both displays but I have no option to change the primary. I want the start menu and icons on the external monitor, not the laptop. Running windows 7 Pro 64 bit
Thanks,

Since you didn't list what OS you are using I will assume it's Win 7.
Right click out on the desktop and click display properties. Then use the Identify feature to specify which monitor you want to use for the Main screen( desktop) and which one you want to use as an Extended display, which will usually just show your desktop background until you drag windows over to it.
