Mozilla & Flashblock

Fri May 07, 2004 3:06 pm

First off: If this is a sensitive topic (blocking Flash ads causes revenue reduction to TR), I have no issues with this topic being locked. The last thing I want to do is to harm this place in any way.

That said, why isn't the Flashblocker extension to Mozilla FireFox 0.8 working any more? As I type this, FireFox tells me that Flashblocker is enabled, yet NewEgg's ad is full of dancing take-out Chinese food buckets at the top of my screen.
What we have today is way too much pluribus and not enough unum.

No, right-clicking said ad brings up a list whose bottom element is "About Macromedia Flash Player 7."

I think it's a known bug in the older version of the extension. There's apparently two ways of embedding a Flash animation and it can only block one of them.

The developer is working on improvements to the extension, including a whitelist so you can set certain sites to always show the Flash animations.
