Suggestions - iTunes .mp4 to .mp3 conversion software?

I want to convert my iTunes .mp4 files to .mp3 files. There are lots of freeware, trialware, crapware, and robustly priced programs out there that claim to do this well. Any recommendations for free or paid programs that I should use?

what is your primary reason for doing that? as most "mp3 players" can play un-protected aac files as well.

I'm assuming you're referring to ".m4p" files as opposed to ".m4a". If so, look into Requiem, but you may need an ipod touch or iphone.

If they're not "protected" (I use the term loosely), iTunes will do it for you. Go to Edit --> Preferences, to the Import Options and choose your format/bitrate. Then right-click the file in your iTunes library adn "Create MP3 version" will be on the menu.

You can even add Kind to the list of columns, sort by that column, shift-click to select all files of that kind and then right-click and you can batch-convert.

which means it meets the criteria described in the second part of my previous post. so look at requiem or one of the numerous "pay" applications meant for the purpose.
