HDD Utility

I'm looking for a bootable program that I can use which will wipe a HDD with a lot of personal banking information. I used to have something that would write 0's to each sector of the drive over 10 passes but I can't find my old disc for it nor can I remember the name of the program.

by just brew it!
The drive manufacturer's diagnostics suite should have a "write zeros" test. Check the manufacturer's web site...

Toshiba has fjerase, but I've never used it nor do I know how to use it.

Ultimate Boot CD is another option.

Maybe try an older version -- 1.0.7, I think? I've run into the same situation where the newer versions don't work, but the old version -- which was around for years before being updated -- works fine, even on new hardware.

I second the Ultimate Boot CD. It has at least a half-dozen programs which will do exactly what you need.
