I will be doing some training videos soon for my job and I'm just trying to get a general idea for recording software. I'll be showing people step by step instructions and recording my voice as I go along with it. Any recommendations?

If I understood correctly, you are looking for a program that records / captures whatever is happening on your screen as well as record your voice (voice-over). There are several options - if you’re looking for freeware, you should check out HyperCam, SMRecorder, CamStudio and Ezvid. If you don’t mind paying, then you have Replay Video Capture or BSR Screen Recorder for example.
