Audio transcription required

Postposted on Sat Feb 02, 2013 2:56 pm

My company has a few hours of training videos that we want to post onto our training site. To be sure we follow ADA policies, etc, we want to supply transcriptions of the audio for those who need them.

Does anyone have any experience with good transcription software or service for this? We're looking for 100% accuracy. . It'll have to take our AVI/FLV files and dump out text logs from them.

Ideas?

I believe you need high accuracy but that is not very feasible when you are doing it with software. Dragon is the most commonly used but cant be taken for professional purposes. There are services available, http://speechtotextservice.com/. is one that I have used for my seminars and webinars. It's the cheapest around I guess. But the auto transcription is certainly not the one that can be relied upon.

I agree with Gerbil Stalin - Dragon works very well - but not as you describe your need here.

There are tons of paid services - they range from mom and pops (which range in quality but can be great) to very expensive corporations (that often do court recordings, etc.) Ask around. try university psych, soci or anthro departments - they do qualitative research and many have used services. My best work has been from wither known mom and pop - great and cheap but not always quick - or high cost corps - good and expesniev but faster generally.

Software like Transcriber and Transana are good - but are meant for you to transcribe video and audio - you type and make choices. None meet your need on an automated basis. (We await Star Trek level voice computers.)
