Hey Everyone,

I'm running Windows 8.1 Enterprise (x64). I have two folder's I'd like to synchronize, for the purposes of this question, we'll call them 'Source' and 'Destination.'

I'd like to setup a one-way sync, essentially I'd like all changes in Source to be reflected in Destination, and not the other way around. Previously I've used Comodo Backup Free for this purpose, and now find it unstable/unreliable.

Any suggestions?

You could use a robocopy script or perhaps try SyncBack Free. I haven't tried SyncBack myself, so cannot attest to its reliability. I was considering it myself and would like to know what others think.

Thanks for the suggestion, looks like it might be a viable option. I'll report back when I've had ample time to play with it.

I highly recommend rsync. Open source*, industrial strength, and relatively easy to setup.

Rsync is commonly associated with Linux/BSD/Unix systems, but it can run under Windows and there are windows-specific wrappers (see Delta Copy as one example: http://www.aboutmyip.com/AboutMyXApp/DeltaCopy.jsp)

* Not only free as in $0 but also no spyware/nageware/etc. that sometimes comes with "free" programs.

Yep, went with SyncBack Free; so far no complaints.

I have used rsync with cygwin and while its pretty good it occasionally screwed up the file permissions on transferred folders. I have since started using rsync as its native to Windows but am disappointed that it lacks a verification flag, to check the files copied correctly. So I have started using rsync in combination with md5deep, which I run in cygwin. Its a bit of a convoluted process to achieve the same result. I see running a checksum as important but none of these methods are idea for me as I really only want to verify what has changed since the last backup and not the entire data set which is over a terabyte.

I guess something like SyncBack or another program would do its duty but I have more faith in the command line. The problem is I can't find a better command line based solution for my needs.
