Oh hell yes.

The R10 only lost one race in the FIRST SEASON (which is now complete, with a 1-2 finish at Laguna Seca). And that was an informal drag race (this is no drag car) against a Harrier jump jet.

I work for a school. I sure as hell don't work for Volkswagen AG, Audi AG, Volkswagen of America, or Audi of America. So STFU. :P

Bringing this thread back from the dead. (And giving it a title change. What the hell.)

To give a link to this video of the newest challenge for the Audis.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=Be1tiFYROR8

The Peugeot 908.

700 hp (vs. 650 in the Audis.) Why? Because Peugeot used a loophole. Coupes have to be air conditioned... but you get a larger restrictor plate, to make up for the power loss. In this case, you get 50 more hp.

Plus, Peugeot is French. That gives them a huge advantage right there.

Re: Dedicated Audi R10 vs. Peugeot 908 thread (Le Mans diesels)

Hmm...

So, the 12 Hours of Sebring are tomorrow, and we've got two Audis and a Peugeot. Rumors abound that Peugeot might even run one car for the whole ALMS season - in a country that Peugeot doesn't sell cars in.

And, not only that, but there was almost a new entry - Eco Racing (run by the same guy as Taurus Racing, who ran a diesel LMP1 car in 2004,) with a Radical SR10 with a Volkswagen 5.0 V10 TDI (out of a Touareg) installed. Unfortunately, they didn't have the correct paperwork from Radical, and were forced to withdraw. :( Not that they had a chance against Audi and Peugeot anyway.

Ouch.

Between mechanical problems, penalties, and boneheaded pit stops, Audi got 4th and 7th overall (1st and 2nd in class, but their class is meant to be the fastest class.)

Worse, because of two mechanical problems that were difficult to repair, the Peugeot got 12th overall, and 4th in class (behind a privateer gasser - and the Peugeot is a works car!) Rather embarrasingly, both of the Corvettes (in GT1, which is usually not only slower than P1 (the class the Audis and Peugeot are in,) but also P2 (less power than P1, but less weight as well)) beat it. But, it was the fastest car on the track when it was running. Not only that, but it was more fuel efficient than the Audi.
