hmm another wild weekend in college football.

wisconsin losing isnt suprising.. they've been sucky.
USC losing isnt suprising.. but losing this weekend to Stanford certainly is.
florida losing isnt suprising.. but i thought they actually had more of a chance after losing last weekend.

nebraska sucks. :(
missouri is good.. but nebraska sucks.

the thing about the polls is that they are just not realistic.

for example, after their 2nd loss, Florida will be dropping down even further.. below teams that there is no way they'd lose to. South Florida might be a good team.. but they wouldnt beat Florida. Nor would Boston College or West Virginia..

Watching the pre-game on ESPN I heard that Illinois was actually the favorite going into that game.

Playing devil's advocate here... Why aren't they realistic? USF beat Auburn at Auburn. Auburn beat UF at UF. Doesn't that at least mean that USF isn't just some school getting lucky beating cream puffs? It's great that the best team in Florida currently resides in Tampa, especially since they won and UF lost again.

Ron Zook is a great recruiter and motivator. He'll get the talent there. If he's got good coordinators, the team will succeed.

I can't believe Illinois was the favorite. and while Zook is a great recruiter, he's a miserable game coach. He routinely gets out-coached.

In what's been the year of the upset in college football, Stanford's stunner just might top them all.

Um no. At least Stanford is a D1 school. (looking at Michigan)

Well they are 4-2 just like Nebraska although in their division they are 2-0 unlike Nebraska. By next week Nebraska will be unranked.

So what? USF has beat a good team each year in the last three. That doesn't make them consistently good. We played a decent game against LSU, and barely lost. We played a pretty bad game against Auburn, and barely lost.

And no, the best team in Florida does not reside in Tampa. No questions asked. Remember when UCF thought that last year after winning the CUSA title

Which coach was it that said you are what your record says you are. UF is 13th and USF is 5th. That says it all, at least until next week.

record is only as meaningful as the opponents that were faced.

I still don't see how you guys are twisting USF's record to say they don't belong there. They beat Auburn at Auburn when they were ranked 17th, then beat West Virginia, ranked #5. They're 2-0 against teams that were ranked at the time. UF has lost to a then unranked Auburn in Gainesville, which only makes USF's win over Auburn look that much better, then UF lost to LSU and barely beat an unranked Mississippi. UF is 0-2 against ranked opponents so far. Explain to me again how USF doesn't deserve to be ranked ahead of UF?

There's a difference in them deserving their ranking (which I think they do, as do we) and whether they are the best school in the state. A higher ranking does not a better team make.

The ranking system blows and often has to do more with popularity and hype than actual performance.

wow. the polls are so incredibly nuts its funny. no wonder the "top teams" keep getting knocked off.

South Florida is maybe #6 or 7.

West Virginia doesnt even deserve a top 20 spot. they have played NO ONE except South Florida - a game they lost. come on!

Michigan made it into the BCS. If they can upset (a term that has lost all meaning this year) Ohio State they could redeem their season.

thats actually quite possible. michigan is improving rapidly. they look decent.

ohio st is a little hard to judge at this point since they havent really had any tough opponents.

the thing is.. the entire Big 10 seems in a rut.. so even the "tough" in-conference matches dont seem that great.

anyone wanna give my Jayhawks some love? It's so weird that our football team is doing so well this year. Usually is like "damn, let's just get football over with so we can play some basketball." Everyone is so pumped for football now, it's great. WOOOOOOOOOOOOO KU TOP OF THE BIG .
