Fantasy Hockey 2007 Discussion - Head-2-head League

Tue Sep 11, 2007 9:43 am

It that time of year again. :D I'll be making a TR league here in a day or two. I would like to know who is interested in playing again this year..

Last year's hockey thread:
viewtopic.php?p=604920#604920

It appears from that list of peeps that perhaps these people would be interested: (PM's sent to them)

Captain Ned
Pete_Roth
Meanfriend
Dizik

I also have (4) friends-n-family players that want to play. So that's a nice 8 team league right there. If there's lots of interest, I'll create two leagues.

I'm planning on keeping the settings the same (head-2-head) as last year - you can click that thread to see the rule settings and such if you like.

Once I gather a list of who wants to participate (no dead teams) I'll send the league ID and password out to you via PM's...

So, who wants some fantasy hockey action this year? 8)

I'm out. Last year finally cemented in my mind that as much as I loved hockey when I was younger, the game has passed me by and I'm not a fan anymore. Not having hockey on TV and having a piss poor team in town doesn't help. I was a detriment to the fantasy league last year and I don't want to repeat that sorry ass performance.

So yeah, good luck all.

I'm in. Every league needs its cellardweller and I know my place.
What we have today is way too much pluribus and not enough unum.

PM's sent to Captain, Pete, and Dizik.

I actually had 5 offline peeps and those (3) make 8 - so I'm set with that.

I'm thinking about making a 2nd rotisserie league too. Meanfriend, I'll invite you to this one. Anyone interested in joining this 2nd league?

I've got another league going, a rotisserie one this time.

Let me know if you would like into this one, as well.

Me, my wife, Pete_Roth, bro-in-law, and meanfriend have signed up or been PM'ed the info.

Seriously. Having only 7 teams in the league sucks as everybody gets a bye week, and all of the teams will be stacked with the highest draft picks. 8 teams would be an acceptable minimum, 10 being ideal. But that's just me.

I did increase the size of the bench (to 6) in both the head 2 head and the rotisserie leagues. By limiting the amount of teams to 8, and haivng a bigger bench, it makes things more dynamic in that you have more guys to shuffle around, trade, compare, etc. Doing so also makes it so there are more good guys to go around.

There's also openings left in my rotisserie league.

To All: Please let me know if you are interested in either...

Edit: I'm going to change the thread title temporarily to "Any Canadians In The House" ? To see what happens.

After that, I'll probably make this thread the Head2Head League thread and then I'll create another for discussions for the rotisserie one.

I would get into this, but the one year I did play fantasy hockey the point system was royally messed up. I had guys getting 3 or 4 points a night, but because of other factors I was only getting 1 or 2 points total for the night. I don't think there should be anything other than goals & assists to account for points in a hockey pool.
For those that fought for it, freedom has a taste that the protected will never know.

Well,

In both the head-2-head and rotisserie leagues, the following is scored:

G
A
P
+/-
SOG
PPG
PPA
PPP
SHA
SHG
Penalty minutes
Goalie W
Goalie L
Goalie save percentage
Goalie goals against average
Goalie shutouts

From memory...

It makes things alot more interesting as you got some guys that are powerplay monsters and some guys that are SOG kings, etc. Makes things much more dynamic. The bigger bench kinda makes you think a little bit more. Do you need more SOG to win at the end of the week? Play Drury, Jokinen, Shanahan, etc.

Trust me, with the bigger bench, it makes deciding who to start/sit a little more challenging and fun.

BUMP for anyone interested in fantasy hockey.

Live Draft for both the head-2-head and rotisserie leagues is this Saturday night, late. 10:15pm and 11:30pm, respectively.

I need at least one more person for the head-2-head, and up to two more people in the rotisserie league.

The live draft for the (full) head-2-head league is in a little over a 1/2 hour
(10:15pm eastern)

There's two slots still open in the rostisserie league.
The live draft for this league is tonight @ 11:30 eastern.

If you would like to give it a shot, first come 1st serve:

Games start tonight, make sure you check your lineups.

Other then the Wings (of course), I think that the Avalanche, the Sharks, the Rangers, and maybe Ottawa will be dominant this season.

Other teams I'm watching: Minnesota, Buffalo, and Chicago (lots of interesting rookies there).

Buffalo will have a great regular season, but will blow it in the post-season. Like they always do.

No complaints here. I'm currently in third with 61 points. Ned's in first with 75. So far, it's been pretty close.

Pete, because you didn't start your players last week, my brother-in-law beat you 17-0 and is now in first place as a result. I noticed you aren't starting your players this week either.

Did you forget about fantasy hockey? :-?

One can go in there, and set their lineups for a month in advance if they wanted to be hands-off about it.

W00t Zetterberg just scored! :D

Wait! My wife is playing him against me right now! DOH :o

I know I suck, Between Fantasy Football and everything else I've been forgetting all the time. I'll try to stay on it better. I'll try to set them all up in advanced from here on.

edit: okay I have both leagues setup for the week, I'll do this every Saturday / sunday so i have no more excuses, sorry for the temp dead weight. Lots of season left!
