How exactly does fantasy hockey work?

Have you played anything else, like fantasy football?

Rotisserie: Cumulative scoring through the whole season. You are always against everyone else in your legaue. There are several stat categories (G,A,P,PPG,PPA,+/-,SOG,GWG,etc. etc.) If there are 8 ppl in the league, and you have the most Goals, then you get 8 points for that. The person that has 2nd place in goals gets 7 points -> The last place player in Goals gets only 1 point. Now you add up all those scores for all the categories and it gives you your point total. There is are no playoffs in rotisserie, so the player with the most combined points at the end of the season wins. You are limited in how many times you can play a given position (usually 200 slots per forwards and goalies / 400 slots for defensemen). No limit to how many roster moves/trades you can make.

Head-2-Head: Like we play fantasy football here. Scoring is essentially the same as rotisserie, except every week you are up against just one of the other ppl in your league. There are playoffs too, like in head-2-head football. That decides the winner in the end, the winner of the playoff bracket that gets established at the end of the regular season.
There's no slot limit, but there's a 100 roster move/trade limit instead.

The way I set both league types up are: 2 Centers - 2 Right Wings - 2 Left Wings - 4 Defensemen - 2 Goalies are you starters. You then have 6-7 bench slots for extra players. I would usually have 2 centers, 1 LW, 1 RW, 2 Defense, and one extra goalie for my starting bench.

Oh so you just pick players and track their stats?

Here's a link to a screenshot of my team's matchup for last week (too big to show here).

It's pretty self-explanatory.
What we have today is way too much pluribus and not enough unum.

Yep. We're in Week 20 of a 23 week season. Gotta get the playoffs in while all the teams are still skating.

Right.

I will try and keep you in mind for next year. This is the third year for me doing fantasy hockey, and the 4th year doing fantasy football.

There aren't nearly as many ppl interested in fantasy hockey as there are for fantasy football.

The hardest thing to find is people that will actually commit to trying to play the whole year. Nothing sucks worse dead teams.

Captain, thanks for staying a reliable player over the years!

I kicked ass last week. I just now got around to looking at the final score, and I pulled a 11-6 victory over Taking Numbers. Schweet.
Heavy is good, heavy is reliable. If it doesn't work, you can always hit them with it.

Yep, my wife was quite dismayed

Our daughter's sitter's husband is "BC 2 Hander". He was beating my team (Bingo Bango Returns) something like 11-3 on like Saturday.
I had a HUGE sunday and got just enough to beat him 9-8, and that wasn't until all the games were over and I got credit for a 2nd GWG to put me over. I had picked up Price (Montreal goalie) the night before (dropped Osgood, already regretting that I think) just to play him on Sunday. Apparently he told his wife (and she relayed this to my wife) that last week had been his favorite week to follow since it was so close - and that he was freaking out late on Sunday at my amazing comeback.

How about that JP Dumont guy? He's on FIRE. :o

How about that Brad Richards? 5 assists last night during his first night with Dallas.

Too bad Hossa got injured last night during his first game with the Penguins.

I picked up Brad Stuart (Red Wings new D man) in both leagues. Hopefully he gets on powerplay points for me with Rafalski and Lidstrom being out.

Next week is the last week of the regular fantasy season in this league!

Top 6 teams are in the playoffs, top 2 teams have a first playoff round bye. :D
