NFL Divisional Playoff Thread/Predictions

Wed Jan 09, 2008 5:55 pm

Seattle at Green Bay - Seattle's defense looked pretty good last week, but Hasselbeck looked like crap and Green Bay will make him pay.

Jacksonville at New England - There's a good chance for an upset here. I'd say it depends a lot on the weather, but I think New England will pull it out, but I wouldn't be upset if I were wrong.

San Diego at Indy - Nothing short of the hand of God was responsible for San Diego winning earlier this year against the Colts. 6 Int, 2 Special Team TD's and an easy missed field goal by Vinateri and SD barely won it. This time, at Indy, a healthier Colts team is going to destroy the Chargers.

NY Giants at Dallas - My upset special, I think the Giants are going to take it to the Cowboys. Eli has some much needed confidence, and the D has a great pass rush. Plus tender TO sounds like he's iffy and Romo's been busing screwing around, literally.

All around, there's going to be a lot of good games.

I agree with all of that. Dallas losing will give Jerry Jones an excuse to boot out Wade and put in his golden boy (Garrett) before he gets lured away by another team.

One caveat on the Seattle/Green Bay game is that the game will depend on the Packer's offensive line. If they can negate the Seattle pass rush, then the Seahawks will have no chance. Seattle needs to keep Farve off the field or hope for some INTs returned for TDs. Unless Shaun manages to find his lost mojo, the offense isn't going to be scoring much.
Being right doesn't matter if no one listens.

I think all the home teams will win.

Although Dallas does look the most vulnerable.

GB will smash Seattle right into the Tundra. Not even close.

Indy will have trouble with LT, but they should be comfy at home.

NE game may be close till oh say the end of the 3rd qtr. After that expect 60 yard Bradymoss bombs.

Heh, sounds like we have the same ritual. I picked Rivers twice with Bethea and ran them both back for touchdowns. I didn't pass the ball once or punt and moved the ball fairly well against All-Pro setting.

A pair of Kaeding FG's were all they could muster. ;-)

I agree with all that, too - Except I'm rooting for Dallas to sqeak out a win. 8) I want NE and DAL in the Superbowl.

We're going to be in Disneyworld Saturday for the Packers game. Luckily, we got reservations at the ESPNZone on the Boardwalk. :D

Well, I actually have two 20" LCD's running at 1600x1200 but I have them both pivoted, so I only have 1200 width. And yes, I am being a baby.

Wouldn't the fact that the rosters have changed in the 3 years since that season have some affect on it?

Not that Madden is a good litmus test for how a game will go, just saying.

Oh, and my picks are NE, GB, Indy, and Dallas.

Seattle at Green Bay - Looks like the weather forecast is decent, so old man Favre will be warm enough to pick apart the SeaHawks for a W.

Jacksonville at New England - No upset here. Brady wil dissect the Jaguar in short order. Game essentially over by the 3rd Qtr. at the latest.

San Diego at Indy - Indy wins by 2 TDs. Should be a great game to watch! Manning throwing and LT rushing. Cots D is better so they win.

NY Giants at Dallas - Romo has a bad day, Eli has a bad day, and this is the least enjoyable game to watch all weekend. Too many penalties! Cowboys win ugly unless I'm wrong about Romo...in that case they'll bust up NY pretty well.
Not retired anymore

Just for anyone who has any doubts the Colts won't crush the Chargers, the Colts injury report came out today.

No one was on it.

Injured Reserve

Thu Jan 10, 2008 8:10 pm

Those ten guys were already on Injured Reserve (out for the season). Losing Booger McFarland, Rob Morris and Dwight Freeney certainly hurt the Colts' defense, but they've had quite a while to get used to playing without them.

I agree with all of 5150's picks except for the Giants Dallas game. Personally being a Philadelphia Eagles fan, everyone knows we slightly dislike the Cowboys (cough, TO). I would love to see the Giants win, but I have a feeling Eli isn't up to the challenge.

As for the colts, will they have Marvin Harrison back for the game?

Yes, tentatively. Dungy said he was pretty sure Harrison would play this week, but admitted he was also pretty sure about him playing before the Tennessee game.

I suppose being a fan of the Patriots makes you really not believe any injury reports. Hey, you never know, that lingering shoulder problem of Brady might have an effect on him this weekend.

I'd say they're 50% right/50% BS.
